- These release notes describe the Fortran
- Development portion (ftn_dev) of the MIPSpro 7.3
- release of the FORTRAN 77 and MIPSpro 7 Fortran
- 90 compilers. This portion includes header
- files and libraries common to both compilers and
- necessary for development. For more information
- about these compiler products please refer to
- the ftn77_dev, f77_fe, f90_fe, and ftn90_dev
- release notes respectively.

- After you install the online documentation for a
- product (the relnotes subsystem), you can view
- the release notes on your screen.

- If you have a graphics system, select Release
- Notes from the Help submenu of the Toolchest.
- This displays the grelnotes(1) graphical browser
- for the online release notes. For information
- on options to this command, refer to the
- grelnotes(1) man page.

- If you do not have a graphics system, you can
- use the relnotes command. For information on
- accessing the online release notes using this
- command, refer to the relnotes(1) man page.

- This section lists supplemental information to
- the _I_R_I_S(_R) _S_o_f_t_w_a_r_e _I_n_s_t_a_l_l_a_t_i_o_n _G_u_i_d_e. The
- information listed here is specific to the
- FORTRAN 77 or MIPSpro 7 Fortran 90 compiler; use
- it with the installation guide to install this
- product.

- You can use the inst command from IRIX to
- install all of the subsystems for the FORTRAN 77
- or MIPSpro 7 Fortran 90 compiler. You do not
- need to use the miniroot.

- If you are installing this option for the first
- time, to install the subsystems marked default,
- use the go menu item. To install a different
- set of subsystems, use the following commands in
- inst to customize the list of subsystems to be
- installed:

- Then select the go menu item.

- NOTE: The nonshared libraries for SPECmarks,
- ftn_dev.sw.speclib, are no
- longer shipped.

- IMPORTANT: ftn_dev is required for the FORTRAN
- 77 and MIPSpro 7 Fortran 90 compilers. ftn_dev
- should not be removed from the system unless
- ftn77_dev and ftn90_dev are removed.
